All audio fed finally through a feedback-routed Biamp model 8802 mixing board, usually several mono recordings layered. Material recorded for the dated tracks originally intended for an album titled "pizel/pel" for release in April 2020. It was designed to be two equal-length tracks (pizel and pel) of four related phased on-off rhythms that would each clock in just under an hour. pizel was to be a quiet half; pel was to be loud, featuring drumming by i.o.. It was unwieldy and rigid to the point of being impossible to make work. Eventually giving up on it the next year, I revisited the core sections to see what I could add to them. In the meantime, while building up a Eurorack-focused rig and the new code design that resulted in Disappimting, I began playing with a feedback mixer when I wanted to make something simple. I spent some time running sine waves through the mixer and sending the audio out through an unpowered 5w speaker, usually a hissing so quiet that i could do it at night and disturb nobody. Tracks 1 and 5 result mostly from this. I also managed to get the spring reverb tank to audibly click, so set a microphone directly underneath the mixer to pick this up (end of track 1). I then searched for more sounds to run through this mixer, liking how it pushes anything to fragility and volatility and how overloading it can cancel out the sounds. Over spring/summer 2023 i ran the pizel/pel recordings through on loop for several sessions each and pieced together the tracks here.

Recorded between 2020 and 2023. Includes guitars, sine waves (at human and cat frequencies), effects pedals, rack units, and the mixer.
